UPDATE
On Friday morning, the NOPD announced the arrest of 47-year-old Bryan Andry in connection with this incident. Andry is believed to be the man responsible for the deadly stabbing of 60-year-old Portia Pollock.
NEW ORLEANS — On Tuesday morning, the NOPD began investigating a homicide in the Bayou St. John area.
Surveillance video in the area captured images of a subject (pictured) who detectives feel is a person of interest regarding the homicide.
This subject is not currently wanted on criminal charges. However, detectives feel he has knowledge of information vital to the investigation and wish to question him.
A family member of the victim spoke to WGNO and confirmed that 60-year-old Portia Pollock was killed in this incident.
The initial call came in around 7:00 a.m. on June 8.
Police responded to the 1500 block of N. Dorgenois Street, after receiving a call of a “carjacking involving an aggravated battery by cutting.”
Upon arrival, Detectives discovered a female victim, later identified as Pollock, suffering from stab wounds.
According to the NOPD, the Pollock was transported to an area hospital but died shortly after as a result of the injuries sustained in this incident.
Neighbors on the scene told WGNO Reporter, Kenny Lopez, that they believe the woman was stabbed while being carjacked.
The NOPD later confirmed this incident as a carjacking after the victim’s vehicle was reported missing from the scene.
The vehicle is described as a dark-colored 2016 Honda HRV bearing Louisiana license plate 323ADB.
