NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Police were been in a New Orleans neighborhood for several hours after a shooting injured what has now totaled to be 3 people.

Police say the shooting claimed the life of a man and left two teenage girls injured.

Around 6:45 on Tuesday evening, NOPD received a report of the shooting at the intersection of Allen and North Rocheblave streets.

When police arrived, they found the man and one teenage girl who had been shot.

According to the NOPD Major Offense Log released on Tuesday, the man standing outside the location when the suspect reportedly opened fire, striking him multiple times. The victim was unresponsive and declared dead at the scene.

On Thursday, April 21, the victim was identified as 19-year-old Jamont Love.

The girl was transported to an area hospital where her condition remained unclear.

Just after 9 p.m., NOPD announced another teenage girl arrived at a local hospital with a graze wound. We’re told both of the female victims are juveniles.

There is no word yet on a suspect or motive.

While police were en route to the shooting, officers heard nearby gunfire and realized a second shooting had occurred. A 26-year-old man was arrested shortly after two more people were shot, killing one.

The crime scene wrapped around the block with multiple bullet casings seen on the ground.

NOPD says the two shootings are not believed to be related.
