NOLATOYA.org organizers file lawsuit to remove inactive voters from rolls

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— Organizers of NOLATOYA.org filed a lawsuit in Orleans Parish Civil District Court today against Orleans Parish Registrar Sandra L. Wilson and Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin regarding the removal of inactive voters from the rolls.

Attorneys Laura Cannizzaro Rodrigue and Blake Arcuri are the attorneys handling this case.

They want the actual, accurate number of active voters in Orleans Parish.

Recall organizers say they found close to 25-thousand inactive voters in a database still listed as active voters in Orleans Parish, some have been inactive for at least a decade.

“The majority have died or moved out of the parish in Louisiana, but not Orleans Parish, or out of state,” Laura Cannizzaro Rodrigue said.

Laura Cannizzaro Rodrigue said, “Obviously the recall is dependent on that number in order to determine what is 20 percent that is needed for recall to be successful.”

Earlier this week recall organizers said they only needed about 1-thousand more signatures, but that was when they thought they needed 49-thousand signatures. By getting an accurate number of active voters this would mean they would need less signatures.
