ALGIERS, La. (WGNO) – The New Orleans Fire Department was called to a 2-alarm fire at the Audubon Pointe apartments around 8:45 a.m. Friday.

The fire started in one of the apartments at 4242 Maple Leaf Dr.

That apartment was heavily damaged and an adjoining apartment was damaged by smoke.

No residents were injured, but a pet dog did die in the blaze.

A firefighter also suffered a back injury while battling the blaze.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
