CHICAGO (WGNO) – It was a big night for New Orleans restaurants at the annual James Beard Foundation Awards held in Chicago.
The awards were held Monday night (May 2), at the Lyric Opera.
Leah Chase, chef of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the foundation.
“I’m 93 years old, and this gives me courage to keep going for another 10 to 12 more years,” Chase said in her acceptance speech.
Justin Devillier, chef at La Petite Grocery on Magazine Street, won Best Chef: Southeast.
Rounding out the list of New Orleans winners is Alon Shaya and his restaurant, Shaya, for Best New Restaurant.
