Memorial march for Orlando victims to lead this weekend’s Pride Parade

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The public is invited to take part in a memorial march Saturday evening as part of the New Orleans Pride Parade in the French Quarter.

The march will serve as a way to honor the 50 victims who were killed at Pulse nightclub in Orlando early Sunday morning.

Anyone who wants to march in the parade should arrive at the parade lineup, 941 Elysian Fields, by 6:15 p.m. Saturday. The march will lead the parade.

The parade, dubbed the largest LGBTQQAA parade in Louisiana, begins at 7:30 p.m. at Phoenix Bar on Elysian Fields. It will proceed through the Marigny, then onto Decateur before taking a right on Canal Street and a left on Bourbon Street. It ends at Esplanade Avenue.

People participating in the march are encouraged to carry signs, flowers, flags or candles to honor the victims. No glass is allowed on the parade route.
