HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for 53-year-old Jerry Williams Jr., after they say he shot and killed his ex-wife in front of her home on Artie Road in Hammond.

Officers were called to the home shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday, when neighbors say that they heard gunshots.

Investigators say that the responding deputies found 50-year-old Linda Williams in front of her home. She had been shot and died at the scene.

Investigators also said that neighbors saw Williams driving away in a red Ford Mustang shortly after the shooting.

Detectives believe that Williams approached his ex-wife as she was leaving her home and shot her in the head.

Jerry Williams Jr. is now wanted for second degree murder.

Deputies have recovered the Mustang that they believe Jerry Williams used to escape the scene. They do not know what kind of vehicle he is currently driving.
