GRETNA, La. (WGNO) – Terry Speaks appeared here at Jefferson Parish Criminal Court Wednesday. Margaret Sanchez did not, her lawyer waived her presence.

A judge denied Speaks’s lawyer’s request to push back the trial date but did grant his motion for a hearing to drop the indictment.

Sanchez’s lawyer is considering the same motion. If that happens both defense lawyers will present arguments next Thursday (May 21) for that motion.

The two face second-degree murder charges for the brutal killing and dismembering of Jaren Lockhart in 2012. The three were seen on surveillance video leaving a Bourbon Street nightclub. Parts of Lockheart’s body were found on beaches in Mississippi.

Speaks has a trial date on June 15th. Sanchez’s trial date hasn’t been determined.
