NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Retired New Orleans Saints sports announcer Jerry Romig has passed away.
His son, Mark, confirmed the news to WGNO Wednesday evening.
Jerry Romig retired after 44 years with the Saints in 2013 and Mark took over in the broadcast booth.
Mark Romig told WGNO that his father had been in home hospice care before passing away.
“He loved three things the most,” said Mark, “his wife Jan, his children (7), and the Saints.”
Jerry Romig died of natural causes. He was 86 years old.
