NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — With threats of severe weather in the area, many schools will close their doors on Tuesday, March 22 in anticipation. See which schools are closed by checking the list below for updates.


Algiers Charter Schools

All after-school activities canceled for Tuesday, March 22.

Delgado Community College

Ending all activities, closing all locations at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.

Jefferson Parish Schools

All after-school activities canceled for Tuesday, March 22.

KIPP New Orleans Schools

Due to the threat of severe weather, all KIPP New Orleans Schools will dismiss school early on Tuesday, March 22. PK-8th grade KIPP schools will dismiss at 3:15 p.m. Booker T. Washington High School will dismiss at 2:15 p.m.

Lafourche Parish Public Schools

Will remain open as scheduled. After school activities canceled, After Care will remain open as normal.

Pearl River County Schools

Due to the enhanced threat of severe weather conditions Tuesday afternoon, PRCS will institute an early release day, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 22. Will follow the schedule below for school dismissal times:

  • PRC Middle School: 11:55 a.m.
  • PRC High School & Endeavor School: 12:00 noon
  • PRC Elementary School: 1:30 p.m.

St. Charles Parish Public Schools

Due to forecasted severe weather during dismissal times, St. Charles Parish Public Schools (SCPPS) will release early tomorrow, Tuesday, March 22.

Early Dismissal Times:

11:15 a.m. – Tier 1 (Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School)

11:55 a.m. – Tier 2 (Cammon Middle, Hurst Middle, R.K. Middle, J.B. Middle, Schoeffner Elementary, Luling Elementary)

12:45 p.m. – Tier 3 (Allemands Elementary, Lakewood Elementary, Mimosa Park Elementary, New Sarpy Elementary, Norco Elementary, R.J. Vial Elementary, St. Rose Elementary)

12:45 p.m. – Tier 4 (Carver Early Learning Center and Eastbank Head Start)

1:45 p.m. – All non-school based personnel working at non-school locations, and school board office

St. James Parish School System

Due to the potential for hazardous weather conditions, all St. James Parish schools and buildings will be closed tomorrow, March 22, 2022. However, all employees are expected to work remotely and all students should participate in virtual learning to the greatest extent possible. Students should log onto Google Classroom for attendance purposes and access their assignments for the day. Teachers will be available to communicate with students via Google Classroom throughout the day. All after-school activities are also canceled. We anticipate a return to in-person learning on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

St. Tammany Parish Schools

Will hold a virtual day on Tuesday, March 22 due to severe weather threats.

Southern University of New Orleans

Will close at noon on Tuesday, March 22. All classes scheduled for after 12 p.m. are canceled.

Tangipahoa Parish School System

All Tangipahoa Schools will have a half-day dismissal on Tuesday, March 22 and all after-school activities will be canceled due to severe weather threats.

Washington Parish Schools

Will hold a virtual day on Tuesday, March 22 due to severe weather threats.
