NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – As we get into the carnival spirit, look what the Krewe of Carrollton sent us? These are pictures of their signature throw: decorated shrimp boots.
It’s a fairly new tradition. Last carnival, Float #18 made about 40 boots to throw during their parade. The boots were hugely successful. With everyone loving them, they’ve decided to ramp up their efforts!
In their second year throwing the decorative shrimp boots, the tradition has grown from one float decorating 40 boots to the entire krewe embellishing more than 4,000 boots to throw.
“We’ll be looking for people who are cheering our krewe’s name. Maybe even holding up signs that say, ‘Show me your boots!’ Just some enthusiasm here!” Bradley Charlesworth with the Krewe of Carrollton said.
In its 92nd year, the Krewe of Carrollton is one of the oldest carnival krewes. They roll Uptown on Sunday, January 31, starting at noon.
