NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Governor Bobby Jindal was the Keynote Speaker on Thursday night at the National Right to Life conference in New Orleans.
The anti-abortion group is hosting a three-day conference at the Morial Convention Center. Attendees can participate in a long list of workshops that cover issues from abortion awareness to doctor-prescribed suicide.
Jindal is also running for the GOP nomination for president. He made his announcement in Kenner on June 24, 2015 and has spent the last two weeks campaigning in key states and appearing on cable news programs. From day one, he’s made no secret of his faith in God during his campaign stops.
During his speech Thursday night, Jindal told the crowd that, while he expects to meet people on the other side of the pro-life issue, he thinks abortion supporters are open to change, and he bases that views on his faith.
“We are called by scripture. We are told to treat and love others the way we want to be treated in life. Even those we disagree with. I also view those who aren’t pro-life as not pro-life yet,” Jindal said.
The convention will continue Friday with a forum involving four other GOP presidential candidates. Dr. Ben Carson, former Texas governor Rick Perry, Senator Marco Rubio and former senator Rick Santorum will participate.
After giving his speech on Thursday, a Jindal campaign worker said the governor will not participate in the candidate forum the next day.
