NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – In light of issues regarding Costco’s recent switch from Amex to Visa, Sam’s Club is opening their doors to Costco members until July 4.

The Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi rolled out last week after Costco dropped its long-standing partnership with American Express. The switch was supposed to be automatic and seamless. The new card was touted as a plus for customers when it was first announced since it offers a more generous cash-back program than the American Express version did.

But so far, customers have had nothing but trouble with the card.

Sam’s Club is using Costco’s new card problem to their advantage, and being pretty obvious about it. Not only are they letting Costco members in for free until July 4, but they’re also poking fun at Costco’s new campaign, with a similar campaign of their own.

The campaign notes that Sam’s Clubs accept all major credit cards, and allows the customer to choose, unlike Costco.

Even members who don’t feel slighted by Costco’s new card policy are checking out Sam’s Club this week to see what kind of bargains they can find.
