NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The pandemic put a pause on Mardi Gras.
And on one of the classic celebrations.
The Greasing of the Poles at Royal Sonesta New Orleans took an alternative stage last year.
It was in a courtyard at the French Quarter hotel.
And the audience was mostly watching online.
But this year, it’s back.
And WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is there with the contestants and the winner.
He’s New Orleans TikTok star and theatre teacher Greg Kata.
And you’ll recognize the emcee for Greasing of the Poles, WGNO’s very own Kenny Lopez.
