NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Accused Bourbon Street shooter Trung Le’s attorney was in criminal court Friday morning hoping to gain access to the names of potential witnesses seen in surveillance video the night of the shooting.

The state says those witnesses have expressed concern for their safety so their names were redacted from police reports. On Friday, the judge ruled to keep them a secret.

Le’s attorney Martin Regan says those witnesses may corroborate his clients version of what happened, that he acted in self-defense. Regan appealed the judge’s ruling further delaying the trial date.
