NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Two float riders were hospitalized Tuesday after falling from a truck during the Krewe of Elks Jefferson parade in Metairie. The falls occurred about 10 minutes apart and on different floats.
Around 12:32 p.m. Tuesday, a man 24-year-old man fell from truck float number 33 as it was traveling in the 3400 block of Veterans Boulevard, Col. John Fortunato said. After the fall, the man was semi-conscious and was taken to University Hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
Around 12:45 p.m. a 23-year-old woman riding on truck float number 49 fell as it approached the intersection of Veterans and Edenborn, according to Fortunato. She was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital for observation. Her injuries are believed to be minor.
