MARRERO, La. (WGNO) – Two Marrero residents who have recently returned from Sierra Leone are being monitored for the Ebola virus, according to Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts.

Sierra Leone is one of the countries suffering from an Ebola outbreak.

Roberts said in a Facebook post the two people are being monitored because they meet CDC guidelines to do so, but they are not exhibiting signs of Ebola and according to DHH they are at a “very low risk.”

Individuals who recently traveled to affected areas are being monitored across the country.

On Thursday, Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals announced they are monitoring a man in the New Orleans area. And State health officials are still watching the symptoms of a Louisiana State University scientist who returned from Africa last week.
