‘Suspicious’ fire at building housing Mardi Gras floats under investigation

Officials say they found the warehouse and a float parked outside on fire.

Kenner Fire Chief John Hellmers said, there’s no reason the outside float would burn on its own, calling the fire suspicious.

Chief Hellmers said there were several floats and a bunch of supplies in the warehouse. But the heavy damage was contained to the front of the building.

The Krewe of Iris told WGNO nine floats were inside the den, but none of the floats damaged belonged to them.
