MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — Reports show 50-year-old Louis Alexander was given 250 years of hard labor after five armed robbery charges in 1998.
Alexander was the man Jefferson Parish deputies found hiding under a home Thursday night, after they went looking for him to serve a search warrant.
Investigators said, Alexander was the lead suspect in a residential burglary from March and several armed robberies between March and May 4.
During the investigation Thursday, they say several weapons were recovered that were believed to be used during the incidents.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, detectives were in the 800 block of Avenue B to serve a search warrant at Alexander’s residence. That’s when officials say he came out of the home and fled the scene on foot.
Detectives pursued Alexander before setting up a perimeter in the area he was last seen. Canine, drone and air support were also activated to help find Alexander.
Several hours later, Alexander was found under a home in the 4000 block of School Drive.
Officials said around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a deputy discharged his weapon at Alexander, who was hit several times.
Capt. Jason Rivarde said that was after pepper spray was thrown under the house and Alexander was warned about the K-9 unit.
Investigators are still reviewing body camera video and interview the involved deputies to find out what prompted the deputy to fire his gun.
