JEFFERSON PARISH(WGNO)– United States’ 240th birthday was celebrated with some national talent today in Lafreniere park. The event remained free but there was a small parking fee.

“This event was put on by the patrons of Lafreniere park, which is a non profit organization. All the proceeds from this event that are raised from vendor fees, our drink sales, and our different vendor fees, they stay right here in Lafreniere park to help with the beautification of this wonderful park we have right here on the east bank of Jefferson parish,” said spokesman for the event, Chad Pitfield.

“It’s grown every year, we’ve been doing it for about three years ourselves and we’ve made sure its grown to where we actually use national acts, bigger crowd draw, we still mixing in the local talent because we feel that the local talent is still needed to give back to the community a little bit. but you can’t beat what you’re getting for free,” said Councilman Ben Zahn.
