Jillian Johnson: Lafayette shooting victim remembered with love as her store reopens

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- It’s been about three weeks since the shooting at the Lafayette movie theater that left two young women dead.

One of those women, 33-year old, Jillian Johnson was a musician and artist with a lot of talent.  She co-owned a clothing shop and workshop here in New Orleans—both Parish Ink and Red Arrow Workshop.

For Parish Ink, Johnson created T-shirts with a Louisiana flair.  For Red Arrow Workshop she designed flags, purses, passport holders, patches, stickers, and T-shirts.   In her designs she used a lot of symbols, especially arrow symbols.

Not only was she an artist/designer, but she was a musician too.  She played in the band The Figs.  Her opus will live on.   Listen to some of her music here:  https://soundcloud.com/jillian-johnson

Her brother and husband will continue to run the stores in both New Orleans and Lafayette.

How can we as a community make sure that her legacy lives on?   Simple…When you wear one of her shirts or buy one of her designs, know that you’re sporting something that was made with an incredible amount of love.  Love she wanted to share!

Parish Ink and Red Arrow Workshop are located at 3926 Magazine St.
