COVINGTON, LA (WGNO) — Students from the St. Paul’s School in Covington spent the day learning to save lives. The pros from St. Tammany Fire District 4 EMS and Lakeview Regional Medical Center provided the CPR training.
Trevor Watkins, the school’s principal, said the training was all about teaching students how to respond to a real life emergency.
“Our ultimate goal is to have every student and teacher receive CPR training,” Watkins said.
“Knowing basic CPR is probably the single most important skill that everyone should know,” said St. Tammany Fire District 4EMS Chief Ken Salzer. “Being able to perform CPR in an emergency situation may save a life and helps to buy time until first responders can arrive.”
The training was part of the school’s Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences program. Some of the school’s juniors, seniors, and teachers participated.
