Another smoking ban may soon be at your front door… literally.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed a new rule that would ban cigarettes, cigars, and pipes from government assisted housing projects for low-income families.
Smoking also would be prohibited outdoors within 25 feet of housing and administrative buildings.
The smoking ban would protect hundreds of thousands of public housing residents from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke, HUD noted.
