NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans Health Director Dr. Jennifer Avegno is highlighting the importance of coronavirus testing.

The city has teamed up with a group called “Community Organized Relief Effort” or “CORE” to expand mobile testing opportunities

While they are focused on senior communities and homeless shelters, Avegno says anyone can be tested.

“Testing is open to all,” she said. “It’s free, it’s quick, it’s easy. It’s an oral swab. It doesn’t go in your nose, so it’s painless. We’re really excited to be able to test anyone who wants it. We want to know every person who has this disease because that’s a person we can isolate and hopefully prevent it from spreading to another person.”
