NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Beginning Monday, Feb. 29, you will may a bigger price for on-street parking tickets in New Orleans.
A violation that currently brings a $20 fine will be increased to $30. If you don’t pay up after 30 days, the fine doubles to $60. If after 60 days you still haven’t paid, the fine jumps to $90.
The New Orleans City Council approved the fine increases during its Feb. 4 meeting.
The change goes along with other increases to parking meter rates and hours of enforcement.
On January 11, parking meter rates were doubled to $3 per hour in the French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny, CBD, and Warehouse District neighborhoods. All other meters were increased to $2 per hour. Also, the hours of enforcement were extended by an hour, ending at 7:00pm.
In 2014, the city began installing new, solar-powered pay stations for drivers. Instructions on the machines are also available in Spanish, French, and Vietnamese.
People who prefer can pay by phone using the Park Mobile app. Click here for details.
