No thongs allowed! Hundreds get cheeky at Cupid’s Undie Run

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- You might see a lot of people running around in their underwear downtown on Saturday, but don’t worry it’ll be PG-13 rated fun!

If you join this underwear-wearing crowd, you’ll be helping a children’s charity!

News with a Twist Reporter Kenny Lopez tells us about the 2nd annual Cupid’s Undie Run in NOLA!

Cupid’s Undie Run is a “brief” charity fun run in your bedroom-best.  Before the run, there is a big party where things get a little ‘cheeky’, and then everyone takes off for a one-mile run to Jackson Square and then back to Harrah’s New Orleans.

“It’s a fun run!  We don’t mind if you hop, skip, or jump!  Just remember come out in your briefs, boxers, panties, but no thongs or pasties.  Let’s keep it PG-13 because this run benefits The Children’s Tumor Foundation,” Ashley Dix, Race Director, said.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the world’s largest non-government organization dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis (NF) through research.  Currently, there is no cure for NF, and there are frighteningly few treatment options.  Kids with NF must endure doctor visits, chemo treatments, pain, and much more.  NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, causing blindness, deafness, learning disabilities, and severe chronic pain. Sadly, there are currently 2-million children living with NF in the U.S.  By wearing your underwear for this run you can help fundraise to raise awareness.

“New Orleans knows how to party with a purpose! We want to spread love and awareness,” Dix said.

The party starts at Harrah’s Masquerade Night club starting at noon on Saturday, February 20th.  The run starts at 2 p.m. and then the party continues at Harrah’s following the ‘brief’ run.
