UPDATE:

Rock singer Meat Loaf should be able to head home soon after he collapsed on stage Thursday night,  said spokesman Jeremy Westby

“He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests,” Westby said. “His vital signs are stable and normal — he’s responsive and recovering well.”

Westby blamed dehydration for the singer’s collapse near the end of his show at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton.

EDMONTON, Canada — Rock singer Meat Loaf collapsed on stage during a concert in Canada Thursday night.

The 68-year-old singer, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, was performing at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton when he collapsed around 9:37 p.m. local time.

Video posted on social media shows the singer falling down during his Grammy Award winning song “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).”

Fellow musicians and stagehands rush to his side as the singer put his hands on the stage and rolled over.

Canada radio station, Up! 99.3, is reporting that Meat Loaf fainted. They say he was revived and taken to the hospital.

His condition is unknown at this time.

Fans were confused at first.

Lindsay Sundmark told the Edmonton Journal newspaper that fans “weren’t sure whether it was part of the act or it was something real.” Britt Brewer said, “it looked like he was just being theatrical.”

CNN partner CBC reports that the Alberta Health Services confirmed they transported a patient to an Edmonton hospital from the concert, but did not identify the person.

CNN has reached out to Meat Loaf’s representatives but has not received a comment.

Meat Loaf canceled a show in Calgary earlier this week due to “illness,” according to his representatives.
