NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- Over the weekend, mega-star, Matthew McConaughey received the “Celluloid Hero Award” from the New Orleans Film Society.
McConaughey’s currently in Hollywood South filming “The Free State of Jones”.
When he accepted his award, the actor spoke about his love for New Orleans calling the Big Easy, a “beautiful mess”.
McConaughey helped the city recover after Hurricane Katrina, and he has shot a handful of movies and TV shows in New Orleans over the last few years including the Oscar-winning, “Dallas Buyer’s Club” and HBO’s “True Detective”.
