ABITA SPRINGS, La. (WGNO) – The new ‘Shotgun Double IPA’ is a new Abita beer worth trying and it’s at least one reason people are out at the brewery after hours. They’re also painting a New Orleans shotgun home inspired by the brew.
“Its got a nice hop flavor which I like. I like double IPA’s and this is a good one,” says Abita patron Gerald Kunkle.
And like those bright colors on canvas, the ‘Shotgun Double’ boasts bold flavors of pine, citrus and tropical fruit, but it’s not the only option on the table.
“I’m having ‘Triple Haze’. It’s very good, it’s extra raspberry. A little like ‘Purple Haze,’ but extra raspberry,” says Abita patron Colby Hall.
Abita brewery recently started hosting after hour parties in an effort to get more people to the North Shore to check out the brewery.
It’s been successful so far.
“My husband has always wanted to learn to paint so I thought painting and beer would be the perfect mix for him and he’d really enjoy it,” says Abita patron Ginger Kunkle.
For this session, in addition to the painting, beer enthusiasts will take home a 22oz bottle of the ‘Shotgun Double’ and will receive 20 percent off all gift shop merchandise. But for most, it’s all about the experience and that ice cold Abita beverage of your choosing.
The next get together at the brewery is scheduled for Saturday, June 18th. It’s Abita’s “Turbodog Days of Summer,” benefiting the Louisiana SPCA.
