On May 5, the New Orleans Coroner released the identities of the two men killed in this incident. They are:

  • 22-year-old Javeihn-Burce Burke
  • 22-year-old Urauhn Price

According to the initial autopsy, both men died from gunshot wounds sustained in the shootout.


UPDATE: The NOPD orginally reported seven victims, then six. At 2:40 p.m., an update was sent via email correcting the total number of victims to five.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting that left threee people wounded and two dead on Saturday night at the intersection of St. Bernard Ave. and N. Claiborne Ave. 

At around 11:42 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location.  Upon arrival, officers discovered five victims suffering with a gunshot wound(s).

Three people were transported to the hospital via EMS and two by private conveyance for treatment where two of them died.
