NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Robert Durst pleaded not guilty to drug and gun charges he was indicted on Wednesday. His next court date will be May 7, 2015.

Both sides need to file all motions by that time.

After his plea, Durst’s attorney Dick DeGuerin asked the agents involved in his arrest be present at the next hearing, calling it quote a “continuous problem, he’s concerned with” (referencing the agents absence at last week’s hearing).

DeGuerin also asked about the status of his client’s extradition.

The judge reiterated, that both parties should file what they need to before May 7 and it will be addressed then.

The drug and gun charges stem from Durst’s arrest in April. Officers found 5 ounces of marijuana and a revolver in Durst’s downtown New Orleans hotel room, when they arrested him on a warrant for the murder of his friend Susan Berman, 14 years ago, in California.

All of these recent legal troubles came after a documentary on Durst’s past legal troubles aired on HBO. Durst also faces a federal gun charge now related to that search last month.

He is due in court for that charge Wednesday.
