Police arrest man in Kenner couple’s shooting death

KENNER, La. (WGNO) – Kenner police have made an arrested in the disturbing double murder of a couple last month.

Shaun Barnett, 28, was arrested on two counts of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, the Kenner Police Department said Tuesday.

Raynell Kimbrough, 31, and Dawn Scott, 28, were shot while asleep in a home in the 2100 block of Idaho Avenue in Kenner on April 4, 2016. Scott’s three children were home at the time of the shooting. They were not harmed.

Chief Michael Glaser confirmed that Barnett was the original person of interest arrested for parole violations the day of the shooting. Barnett was also the person seen driving the gold or champagne colored vehicle away from the area following the murder.

At the time of this, Barnett remains in custody, no bond has been set.
