NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Around 9 a.m. Friday, The New Orleans Police Department began investigating a homicide in New Orleans East.

According to officers, a fatal shooting happened in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Reports showed a woman was shot in the leg.

The victim, later identified as 23-year-old Breshawn Spencer, was taken to the hospital, where she died.

Police continue to investigate the shooting, now deemed a homicide.

On January 9, two days after the shooting, the NOPD released an image of two persons of interest regarding the investigation.

The photo shows 18-year-old white female Arianna Bondlow and 19-year-old Hispanic male Rony Aguilera in what appears to be a still image from a surveillance camera video.
