NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man has died after New Orleans Police say he was found shot several times in a crashed car.

Police say around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the intersection of North Galvez and Egania streets in the 9th Ward.

At the scene, detectives found 20-year-old Dwight Elphage suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a car.

Elphage was transported to a local hospital. Early Thursday morning, the NOPD announced that the Elphage had died. The case was reclassified to a homicide investigation.

There has not been any word yet on a possible suspect and motive. The shooting remains under investigation.
