NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials have identified two men gunned down in the Marigny on Friday.

The New Orleans Coroner says 32-year-old Sam Jackson and 37-year-old Calvin Thompson were fatally shot near the intersection of North Rampart and St. Anthony Streets around 10:00 a.m. Jackson was a Mardi Gras Indian and musician who cofounded the Young Fellaz Brass Band.

The NOPD says the two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds at the location. Both were transported to an area hospital where both succumbed to their wounds.
