UPDATE: August 4, 3:00 p.m. — On Wednesday, police arrested 18-year-old Keldon Castro in connection to the 2nd Street shootings that occurred last month.

Two male victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to an area hospital.

Almost two weeks later, on July 27, one of the victims succumbed to his injury. The investigation was transferred to the NOPD Homicide Unit.

As investigation efforts progressed, Castro was identified as a suspect in the incident. Accompanied by his attorney, he turned himself in on Tuesday.

Castro was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center where he faces charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

NEW ORLEANS — Late Thursday afternoon, NOPD began investigating a shooting that occurred on the 2100 block of Second Street.

Initial reports indicate two males both suffered from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital by EMS.
