JULY 19 UPDATE: A follow-up report from the New Orleans Police Department has changed the original signal for this incident from aggravated battery by shooting to an illegal discharge of a firearm.

As investigation into this incident progressed, while gunfire was reported in the area, no victim could be located. Initial reports gathered early in the investigation of a possible victim were ultimately unsubstantiated.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD reported a shooting at the intersection of Burgundy and Toulouse streets. Initial reports indicate a female victim who was transported from the scene via private conveyance prior to police arrival.

Initial notification was received at 6:10 a.m., with confirmation coming at 7:23 a.m.

The NOPD has since sent a follow up report at 5:10 p.m. to clarify that investigators have yet to locate a victim in this incident. Additionally, no subjects possibly connected to this incident have been located at any nearby hospital.
