NOPD finds young victim shot to death in St. Claude area

UPDATE: The Orleans Parish Coroners Office has identified the victim as 14-year-old  Octavius Wells.


NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A 14-year-old male is dead after a shooting in the St. Claude neighborhood Thursday night (Mar. 2).


At around 9:45 p.m., the NOPD responded to the call of shots fired in the 1600 block of Lesseps Street. Responding officers got to the scene to find a 14-year-old male juvenile, unresponsive in the driveway of the address.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. No further details are available at this time but the NOPD is in the process of gathering evidence and information to determine a possible suspect and motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
