Lakeview residents get free ProjectNOLA cameras

WGNO

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Ten Lakeview residents are walking home with vouchers for free surveillance cameras Tuesday. City leaders say it’s a proactive way to fight crime.

The Lakeview Civic Improvement Association strives to be ahead of the game when it comes to crime in their community, that’s why they decided to team up with ProjectNOLA.

ProjectNOLA director Bryan Lagarde calls Lakeview home and says his surveillance camera system has closed several cases through arrest and warrant.

The Lakeview Civic Improvement Association strives to make the city safer and the Association President says they’re always working on ways to reduce crime on city streets.

The Association is paying for a free year of service through ProjectNOLA.

It’s going to cost them $1,200.

It’s the resident’s job to have a reliable internet connection and make sure the equipment is properly installed.

The Association President is sponsoring an additional five cameras for new members that signed up Tuesday as an added safety incentive.
