NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – An inmate is back in custody after briefly escaping Tuesday morning and ending up on the roof of a building near the Orleans Parish criminal courthouse. Neighbors first spotted the inmate about 8:20 a.m. He was wearing orange pants and holding his orange shirt. The man was taken into custody unhurt about 30 minutes later. No word on how he escaped or ended up on top of the building. The New Orleans Police Department had blocked off South White and Gravier streets. The investigation is ongoing. We’ll update this breaking news story when more information becomes available.
