NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — An investigation is underway on the West Bank after police say a 63-year-old man was shot and killed in Algiers.

NOPD reports around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 8, officers responded to the report in the 1200 block of Sumner Street.

When police arrived at the location, officers located the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s name, upon completion of the autopsy and notification.
