SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — Saint Tammany Fire Protection District 1 is unfortunately too familiar with the Bayou Baptist Church on Sullivan Road.

On July 2, firefighters arrived at the church for the second time in about nine months.  And both fire, they say, were intentionally set.

The first fire in October happened while the church was under renovation.  The second happened while it was being repaired.  Also, power had been turned off to the building.

Now the building is considered a total loss.

The fires are the topic of the latest Wheel of Justice report on WGNO’s News with a Twist program.

Firefighters are getting some help from state and federal investigators to track down whoever is responsible for setting the fires.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Slidell Police Detective Bertucci at 985-646-4346.

Or you can call in an anonymous tip to CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111.  You don’t have to reveal your name or testify, and you might be eligible for a cash reward.

So far, more than 300 people have been booked after their cases rolled on the Wheel of Justice.
