UPDATE 10/13/2021: On October 13, NOPD and U.S. Marshals arrested 22-year-old Nairobi K. Davis in connection to the Uptown shooting that occurred last week.

Police say as the investigation progressed, homicide detectives were able to identify Davis as a suspect in the shooting. He was arrested at an Algiers home Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Police began investigating the shooting last week when four men were shot on Hendee Street. All four were transferred to the hospital where two victims later died. The case was then ruled a double homicide.

Davis faces two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

UPDATE 10/8/21: On Friday, the names of the two people who were killed were released by NOPD.

19-year-old Zernell Lee and 25-year-old Derrick Copelin both died from gunshot wound injuries.


UPDATE: On Thursday, October 7, a spokesperson for the New Orleans police department told WGNO a second person died from the incident.
There is no additional information at this time.


UPDATE: On Wednesday evening, just hours after the shooting occurred, NOPD announced that one victim succumbed to his injuries. The Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and the official cause of death after notifying his family.

The case has now been ruled as a homicide. Police are working to gather evidence to identify a suspect and motive in the incident.

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The NOPD reported a quadruple shooting that occurred in the 3800 block of Annunciation Street near the intersection of General Taylor Street on Wednesday afternoon.

An initial report claimed four amen sustained gunshot wounds in the Uptown neighborhood incident.

All victims were transported to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services.

 No further details are currently available.
