NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating back-to-back shootings that left one person dead on Sunday night.

Police say the first shooting happened at the intersection of North Claiborne and Esplanade avenues around 10:10 p.m. At the scene, detectives found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his body.

We’re told the victim was taken to an area hospital where details regarding his condition were unclear. Other information surrounding the shooting was not released.

Around the same time, police responded to another shooting scene, this time in St. Roch.

Detectives say a man was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the 2400 block of North Villere Street. The victim later died at the hospital.

Both shootings remain under investigation by the NOPD.
