Abita Springs man arrested for trying to bring loaded gun into Epcot

ORLANDO (WGNO) – An Abita Springs man was arrested Monday after police said he tried to walk through Epcot security with a pistol, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

Michael Langston, 61, of Abita Springs, was booked into the Orange County Jail for carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, according to his arrest report.

A Disney security officer called police about 9:55 a.m. Langston was selected to walk through a metal detector, prompting Langston to disclose that he had a gun.

An Orange County deputy sheriff found the weapon — a loaded Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 Automatic — in a case underneath a jacket tied around Langston’s waist.

The deputy wrote in police reports that Langston had no intention of telling authorities he had a loaded gun and would have entered the theme park with it had he not been selected for the metal detector.

Guns are prohibited at Disney parks, even if you have a permit to carry them.
