NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – After a nearly 40 year hiatus, Chiquita banana is coming back to the Port of New Orleans.
Governor Bobby Jindal made the announced Wednesday.
Chiquita says they plan to ship 60,000 to 78,000 twenty-foot units through the Port of New Orleans each year.
Greater New Orleans Inc. CEO Michael Hecht says the plan will bring about 350 new jobs to New Orleans.
