AirPod Strap promises to connect your wireless headphones

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Still looking for that perfect Christmas gift for the iPhone-devoted techie in your life? How about a strap to connect their cordless AirPods?

After iPhone designers did away with the standard earphone jack on the iPhone 7, many consumers were left scratching their heads trying to figure out how they were going to listen to music or make hands-free phone calls.

Enter the AirPod.

First announced by Apple in September and then delayed until mid-December due to production issues, AirPods have been touted as a breakthrough in wireless Bluetooth technology.

Weary consumers, for their part, have expressed concern about the ease with which many predicted they would lose one of both AirPods.

With a new pair carrying the hefty suggested price tag of $159, losing an AirPod could seriously ruin your day.

That’s where the $9.99 Spigen AirPod Strap comes into play.

The “patent pending” strap is advertised on Amazon.com as the solution to all your AirPod problems.

Featuring a head grip designed to keep your AirPods firmly attached to your head, the AirPod Strap connects the wireless headphones in a new and novel way – with a wire.

User reviews have been predictably snarky.

“The Future truly is now with this innovative new design,” Amazon reviewer LongTimeReader wrote on November 1. “No longer will I loose [sic] my wireless earbuds, which tend to fall out of my ears with a stiff gust of wind. At the current rate of technological advancements, I am sure within the next year or so there will be a way for me to connect these earphones to my phone directly to charge them. I would imagine the best way of doing this would be to design an innovative new port in the next model of Iphone.”

“I could not imagine a device so simple yet so innovated,” a reviewer named Jiffer wrote. “It’s as if we are making steps forward. I hope they come out with a second version of this device that can attach to the phone just for safety measure.”

Time will tell if the design gurus at Apple will take this valuable user feedback into their designs for the inevitable AirPod 2.
