NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – When Drew Brees plays well, the Saints are a much tougher out.

Brees threw four touchdown passes, two to Brandin Cooks, as New Orleans beat Arizona 48-41.

Brees threw for 389 yards and did not throw any interceptions. Cooks caught seven passes for 186 yards, including touchdown catches of 65 and 45 yards in the second quarter.

“It was a good win for us,” said Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Brees bounced back after throwing six interceptions and zero touchdown passes in the last two games, both of which were Saints defeats.

Brees threw a 10 yard touchdown to Travaris Cadet in the first quarter, and a four yard strike to Michael Thomas in the fourth quarter.

Tim Hightower ran for a pair of touchdowns, including one early in the fourth quarter that touched off a show of emotion from fellow running back Mark Ingram.

Ingram was clearly unhappy that he didn’t get the chance to score, and was shown by network TV cameras voicing his unhappiness with head coach Sean Payton.

Payton was asked about Ingram’s outburst after the game.

“Next question,” said Payton.

“I have to control my emotions better,” said Ingram to nola.com’s Josh Kazenstein.

The Saints, 6-8, play Tampa Bay Christmas Eve at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Kickoff is 3:25 pm.
