NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Increased police activity around Laplace Elementary School Monday morning, due to an active shooter drill.

Swat team, deputies, firefighters, EMS — they were all inside and outside of the school, in action. Some students and faculty members also took part in the drill.

Saint John Parish Public Schools Superintendent Kevin George says it’s important for everyone to be ready, if an emergency strikes. The video shot this year will be used in an instructional video for students in the future.
