COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) – Apps are here for a reason, to make our lives simpler.

According to Adam Acquistapace of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket, the biggest asset that a wine app can bring, is user reviews from ordinary people who have actually tasted the wine. “Not necessarily professional tasters because they are looking for certain things,” he says.

Some of these apps are really cool. They’ll allow you to take a picture of the label or barcode with your cell phone and then information about the wine will pop up right on your screen. Some show you user reviews, ratings or even an appropriate price range.

“If you’re in a restaurant or someplace where you’re looking for some sort of recommendation, wine apps really serve that purpose because it takes the collective knowledge from basically everyone in the wine world that’s participating and helps you make a more informed decision,” Acquistapace explains.

The goal is to make a more informed decision, but at the same time to not necessarily be swayed by marketing tactics. Instead, we’d rather be swayed by what people with similar tastes are saying.
